Key Stage 3 Physics

KS3 Physics Tuition for Years 7–9

Key Stage 3 Physics introduces students to the fundamental principles that explain how the universe works — from forces and energy to electricity and waves. A solid understanding at this stage sets the tone for success in GCSE Physics and beyond. At Jaya’s Academy, our KS3 physics tuition is designed for students in Years 7 to 9 (ages 11 to 14), helping them build confidence in applying logic, interpreting data, and thinking scientifically.

Our structured, curriculum-aligned lessons focus on simplifying abstract concepts and making physics engaging and relevant to real life. Whether your child is curious, confused, or keen to stretch further, our tutors support each learner at their own pace.

Why Choose Jaya’s Academy for KS3 Physics?

Physics can often feel abstract, especially when students are first introduced to ideas like energy transfer, forces, or electricity. Key Stage 3 is a crucial phase where students begin forming connections between theory, maths, and everyday physical phenomena.

At Jaya’s Academy, our approach to physics is clear, methodical, and tailored. We explain concepts in ways that are easy to understand, using diagrams, real-world examples, and interactive exercises. Our tutors encourage scientific reasoning, helping students learn not just how to solve problems, but also how to think critically about the world around them.

Our online KS3 physics tutoring prepares students for more advanced study by developing their ability to calculate, model, and describe physical systems with increasing independence.

What We Offer

  • Complete coverage of the KS3 Physics curriculum
  • Personalised teaching strategies for each student’s learning level
  • Focus on problem-solving, analytical skills, and concept clarity
  • Guided support for complex topics like forces, energy, and electricity
  • Emphasis on correct use of scientific language and units
  • Topic-wise assessments, feedback, and exam-style practice
  • Encouraging, structured sessions that build long-term confidence
  • Flexible online or in-person tuition options

What We Cover in Key Stage 3 Physics

Our KS3 physics tuition follows the National Curriculum for England and builds understanding step by step. Students gain hands-on skills in data handling, model building, and practical applications — all essential for progressing to Key Stage 4.

  1. Forces and Motion

Students learn about different types of forces including gravity, friction, and air resistance. They explore how forces affect motion, how to measure force using newton meters, and how to represent forces with diagrams. Calculating speed, distance, and time helps students apply maths to real-world physics.
  2. Energy

We cover energy stores, transfers, and conservation. Students explore how energy moves through systems, the concept of efficiency, and how energy use affects the environment. Real-life applications such as insulation, fuel consumption, and renewable energy are included to make learning relevant and practical.
  3. Electricity and Magnetism

Students build an understanding of current, voltage, and resistance in simple circuits. They learn to draw circuit diagrams, use symbols correctly, and calculate values using Ohm’s Law. Magnetism, magnetic fields, and the basics of electromagnets are also covered, connecting physical theory to everyday technology.
  4. Waves

This includes sound and light waves. Students investigate how sound travels, how pitch and volume relate to wave properties, and how light behaves when it reflects or refracts. They learn about the electromagnetic spectrum, the eye and ear, and the science behind communication systems.
  5. Pressure and Density

Students learn how pressure works in solids, liquids, and gases. Topics include calculating pressure, atmospheric pressure, and the relationship between force and area. We also explore the concept of density and why objects float or sink — key knowledge for later physics topics.
  6. Space Physics (Introductory)

Some Key Stage 3 students are introduced to space-related content such as the solar system, gravity in space, and day/night cycles. These topics spark interest and link physics with astronomy and real-world observation.
  7. Working Scientifically

Throughout our lessons, students develop practical and analytical skills. They learn to set up investigations, interpret results, use graphs and tables, and explain findings clearly using scientific reasoning.

Building Confidence in KS3 Physics

Physics often challenges students to apply maths in unfamiliar ways, interpret abstract ideas, and think systematically. At Jaya’s Academy, we support learners by breaking down complex ideas and building their understanding step by step. Our tutors offer clear guidance, helpful feedback, and plenty of opportunities to practise.

For students who feel unsure about physics, our patient and supportive approach can transform the subject into one they feel confident navigating. For those already enthusiastic about science, we provide opportunities to go deeper and explore challenging problems with guided support.

With regular progress reviews and personalised lesson plans, our KS3 physics tuition helps students grow in both ability and confidence — laying the foundation for GCSE and beyond.

Whether your child needs to improve their grasp of the basics or is ready to explore advanced ideas in physics, Jaya’s Academy offers flexible, supportive KS3 physics tutoring — online or in person — designed to meet each learner where they are.
